As of May 16, 2008, there were 3,602 patients listed at transplant centers in Florida.
Roughly 17 people die each day waiting for an organ to become available for them.
A new name is added to the waiting list every 13 minutes.
There were only 8,091 deceased organ donors in 2007.
There were only 6,308 living donors in 2007. Living donors are those who give a kidney or portion of their liver or lung to a relative or friend.
In 2007, there were 28,355 organ transplants performed in the United States. Of those, 1,891 were performed at Florida transplant centers.
