Multiethnic individuals are more likely to need an organ transplant yet less likely to sign up as organ donors. At LifeQuest, we are dedicated to eliminating barriers to communication within multiethnic communities through education and activities that dispel common misconceptions and by meeting communities of color where they are – not where we want them to be.
Multiethnic Action Committee
Our Multiethnic Action Committee (MAC), made up of Ambassadors, community leaders, donor family members, recipients and staff, reflects the uniqueness of the communities we serve. Members act as advisors to help promote cultural understanding, communication and increase donor registrations. We meet monthly to explore donation trends and campaign ideas.

National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month
Each August, National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month (NMDAM) underscores the need for more organ, eye and tissue donors within multiethnic communities. It is a time to honor Black and brown donor heroes, promote healthy living and disease prevention to reduce the need for transplantation, and provide donation education in communities where cultural barriers and misconceptions are more prevalent.

Faith Outreach
Many major religions in the United States support organ donation as an act of charity, fraternal love and selflessness. We work with faith leaders and places of worship to include organ donation in sermons. We give presentations that educate congregations about the need for more donors and encourage discussions about religious beliefs affecting the donation process.
